My husband, Kshitij, always wanted to go lakshadweep. I like mountains more. I don't like ocean. First of all I don't know how to swim and secondly I don't like vastness of ocean.
We hired a scuba diving instructor. Scuba diving was very famous in Lakshadweep. My husband always wanted to scuba dive. He was very excited. I opted to sit alone in boat.
Instructor said the session will be 30 minutes long. So as 30 minutes was about to end. I went to take camera to click pictures of him.I was walking near starboard side. It was slippery. I slipped, lost my control and fell into water.
It was very frightening moment. I didn't know how to swim. I was moving my hands in vain. I was yelling but no one could listen. My mind was going numb. Everything was becoming blur. I could only see some silhouettes moving in front of eyes. They were looking beautiful. I was appreciating that at the same time I was losing my conscious. I was afraid. It was a mixed emotion. The next thing I remember is I was going upwards I don't know how. Still conscious. I heard some sound as if a child is laughing. Then I became unconscious.
The blur vision and the concerned bass voice of my husband brought me back to my sense. I woke without knowing what happened. I somehow sat and got hold of me.
After a day, I asked my husband how did you know I fell even the boat driver was not around he was in his cabin sleeping. He told me he came just after I fell. He got worried looked for me and then heard loud noise of dolphins. Bottlenose Dolphins are common in that part of lakshadweep. Instructor suspected something wrong is there so he jumped. Kshitij also jumped with him. He told me a pod of dolphin were swimming around me and trying to push me above. I had only about these intellectual creatures. But I had such an experience which will never make me doubt the fact.

Life's Second chance
My friends and I had gone to Lakshadweep for a holiday. I still remember how the locals and the tourists kept saying to me - the woman who was saved by the dolphin. I loved beaches but wasn’t a great swimmer. Rather I don’t know even a half about it. My friends were eager to do scuba diving which was very famous in Lakshadweep. I opted to wait for them in the boat. The diving session was supposed to be for 30 minutes so I thought of keeping myself busy by clicking photographs. I was walking near the starboard side. Hadn’t noticed it was slippery. I slipped and fell straight into the water. I was frightened to the bone. I started moving my hands and legs as I could and yelled but no one could hear me. It was high tide and I saw myself drifting away from where the boat was. My limbs had become numb and everything seemed blur. I realised I was becoming unconscious and was slowly drowning. Suddenly I felt something pushing me upwards. Being half-conscious, I thought I heard a child laughing. After that I don’t remember a thing! I woke up to the sound of my friends around me and asked how they found out that I was drowning. They informed that they had arrived right after I had fallen into the water. They were looking for me when they heard the dolphins making noise. Lakshadweep is known for its Bottle-nose Dolphins. The scuba diving instructor had suspected something was wrong so he had jumped into the water. He then told me that a pod of dolphin were swimming around me and pushing me above. I realised that what I had heard was the dolphins squeaking around me and thought how intellectual these creatures were. It was a dangerous experience but the only sweet part of it was the way life gave me a second chance!
