India is one the most culturally rich and diverse nations in this world. It has many different languages, beliefs, religions, customs, taboos, etc. But it doesn't end there we have a rich history, magnificent architecture and so much more. Westernization of India started when the British first came. it started off slow but is gradually increasing
the western culture is at it heights right now, it has everything people like, from hip-hop music to casinos, which is strictly forbidden in our culture. The imitation of western culture has had many noticeable effects, for example, the concept of joint family is now on the verge of extinction. In India modernization has been mainly through westernization, thus making it difficult for us to preserve our culture.
the caste system has played an important role in Indian culture, but with westernization we can see that it is being greatly affected. Our attire has changed to match that of western culture, this can be mostly seen in urban areas, but there are some villages that are much more westernized than the urban areas. many rituals have seen great decline due to this culture. like marriage, the concept is now limited to signing o a piece of paper, unlike the way it is regarded in Indian culture, where marriage is a sacred ritual. Western culture has affected our Art too. The rise of modern cinemas proved to be a great step in this. People hardly watch classical dances nowadays.
if we plan on stopping any of this, we must first educate our youth about it, tell them about the pros and cons of western culture, etc. combined we have the power of stopping our culture for dying out.
