It is given that ,

The man is 7 times that of his son.

Thus;

Let the present age of the son be x years and the present age of the man would be 7x years.

Also,

The age of son five years later = (x+5) years

The age of man five years later = (7x+5) years

According to the question;

In 5 years the man will be four times as old as his son.

Thus;

=> (7x+5) = 4(x+5)

=> 7x + 5 = 4x + 20

=> 7x - 4x = 20 - 5

=> 3x = 15

=> x = 15/3

=> x = 5

Hence,

Present age of the son

= x years

= 5 years

And

Present age of man

= 7x years

= 7•5 years

= 35 years
