Immunity which is not acquired after birth and is birth right of all individuals in a particular species is known as Passive Immunity.

Passive immunity may be referred to as immunity for a shorter term which results from introducing immune system components, most commonly as antibodies from another individual (maybe a person or an animal).

Passive Immunity can be developed naturally (for example how an infant receives antibodies of their mother through breast milk or by the placenta) or can be developed artificially (for example gamma globulin injections).
