The imp and the crust is about an imp that is working for the devil and attempts to deceive a peasant and cause him to sin. At the beginning of the story, the imp first takes the peasant last piece of bread hence the name of the title. When the peasant is not upset by this, the imp creates a scheme to trick him into sinning. The imp helps the peasant to grow a surplus amount of corn over and turn it into alcohol. The peasant invites his friends over and they all become heavily intoxicated. The peasant screams at his wife and other guests start fighting. The story ends with the peasant passing out and all the guests leave. The imp succeds in getting the peasant to sin
