Growth of science:

Indian reformers advocated the study of science because we believe that the backwardness of India was due to its neglect of science and the absence of industrial technology. Many scientific societies was set up. In 1876, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science was set up by Mahendra Lal Sircar.

In 1920's, the Indian Science Congress Association was set up. Many scientific journals also began to be published. Scientist departments were set up in universities. India produce many scientists of world Fame. Among them were P.C. Ray, J.C. Bose, Satyen Bose, Meghnath Saha, D.N. Wadia, S. Ramanujan... and many more received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930.

Growth of the Press:

Indian press grew up in 19th century. The reformer started many newspapers and journals.

Many of them were in regional regional languages. They mobilized the people during the freedom struggle.
