These are pillars of India. India stands heavily on these two things: Religion and Politics.

So let's understand religion at first.

India is a land of religious diversities. All the major religions of the world, viz.: Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhims, Buddhism and Jainism are found in India. The institution of religion has its own impact on Indian society which can be summarised as follows:

People belonging to a particular religion closely identify themselves with the religious group.

Religion helps in the development of ethical values, eg.: Care for the parents & children, helping the poor & disabled , honesty are preached by religion.

Religion acts as an effective tool of social control by imbibing certain ethical values.

Over a period of time religious customs and traditions gain the force of law e.g.: According to morality, maintenance of wife and children is the bounden duty of the husband. For awarding maintenance a rule is made in Hindu Marriage Act.

While groupism, frequent conflicts, dogmatism, block of social change are some negative impacts of religion.

Now coming to the point of politics in India,

India is a democratic country where the government is formed by the people, for the people and of the people. Democracy is beauty of Indian politics!

The people of India choose which representative and which political party should run the government. This gives them the power.

Better representation of a larger range of public opinion.

While these are only few positives from the Indian political system,it has evolved over the time and modified the definition of democracy according to it's convenience. Let's look at its negative impacts.

Pressure to win electoral fights does not allow sensible long term policies to be formulated.

The narrow focus and votebank of most parties, even in the central government , sidelines national issues such as economic welfare and national security.

Internal security is also threatened as incidences of political parties instigating and leading violence between two opposing groups of people is a frequent occurrence.

Hence, the impact of politics and religion is very powerful.

Due to high grip of religion on people in India where people practice religion with devotion, political parties have analysed the average Indian, channelized their dirty game and emerged with the idea of religion-politics.

The lack of homogeneity in the Indian population has led to the rise of political parties with agendas catering to one or a mix of these groups.

Some parties openly profess their focus on a particular group; for example, the Biju Janta Dal's championing of Odio culture; the Shiv Sena's pro-Marathi agenda.

So religion and politics hold a firm grip on people of this democratic country. And what we are seeing today is a VAPORTINI of both.

=> First of all you should know that....The partition of india happened because of religion only (the Muslims started killing thousands of Hindus alive with knifes , & didn't even leave the women and children....because of this the partition took place)

=> Also, There is a great impact of religion in Indian politics.....

=> Many political parties (such as Congress) use religion for the sake of filling their votebank....

Sometimes they go to a mandir and sometimes to masjid....but once they come to power, they destroy the heritage of sone religions.....

For example once when Congress came to power it demanded that the Ram Setu should be broken down....which hurt millions of Hindus all over the country....

=> Also some political leaders give speeches that can hurt others feelings and beliefs...

For eg : Once Indira Gandhi (who is a Christian) said that Lord Rama doesn't exist....which also in turn ended up in hurting millions of people...

=> This paves the way for the political parties, who say that they will take revenge, to power...
