There were several Russian revolutions, but the one during WW I was taken over by relative non-leaders of the unhappy workers. First a Republic was formed, then that effort was taken over by Lenin, and the nation was made into a Marxist communist experiment. The communist party suffered an internal struggle for power after Lenin died, and Stalin took over, killing some party members, and generals, and anyone who might be a threat to him. The economy of the nation didn’t do well, but they annexed nearby western neighbors and became the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. That existed into WW II and Stalin’s death; then the poor economy and over spending on the military lead to an economic collapse and withdrawl from the eastern nations. After several Russian dictators, Putin came to power. His efforts to re-establish USSR have led to friction with the nations involved, NATO, and USA.

Answer:

(i) Russia became the first country to establish a communist state. Soon after it, communist parties were formed in many countries.

(ii) The Bolsheviks encouraged colonial peoples to follow their experiment.

(iii) Many non-Russians from outside the USSR participated in the Conference of the Peoples of the East (1920) and the Bolshevik-founded Comitern, an international union of pro-Bolshevik socialist parties. Some received education in the USSR's Communist University of the Workers of the East.

(iv)Socialism became popular by the time of the outbreak of the Second World War. By the end of the twentieth century, the international reputation of the USSR as a socialist country had declined though it was recognised that socialist ideals still enjoyed respect among its people. But in each country the ideas of socialism were rethought in a number of ways.
