As with the FDTD method, boundary conditions at the boundary of the simulation domain are important in implementing FEM. Dirichlet and Neumann conditions are relatively easy to handle, but other boundary conditions, such as an absorbing boundary condition (ABC) can be complicated. where Γ is the boundary of the domain.
