Importance of irregular reflection:

  • An object is visible to the observer's eye only because of diffused or irregular reflection (except light emitting ones).
  • In diffuse reflection, the light rays are in various angles because of the surface and are not parallel to incident rays.
  • The light rays are scattered in different angles and thus forms the image of the object.
  • While passing through a semi-transparent surface, the rays gets scattered and it also absorbs some color from the surface.
  • When objects like wood, wall, etc,. is placed in a parallel beam of light, the rough surface causes the incident beam to reflect in a different angles and make a non-luminous object visible.
