Moral education means an ethical education to follow the good and right principles of life. It consists of some basic principles, like truthfulness, honesty, charity, hospitality, tolerance, love, kindness and sympathy. Moral education makes one perfect. Education is not aimed at obtaining only a degree.

Moral education can be learnt at home, school and college. The scope for imparting moral teaching to the children is greater in home than in school or college because greater part of time is spent at home.

Moral education can be imparted in a better way by examples and not by precepts. Our grown-ups often forget this golden rule and advise the younger to pursue good principles while they behave just opposite in their real life. This is a kind of hypocrisy.

It should not be forgotten that no deception on the part of the grown-ups go unnoticed by their children, because children are good observers. Parents should also take care that their children do not mix with the evil companions.

Today life has become mechanical. Modern man has become very materialistic and is totally preoccupied in pursuit of material things. This excessive urge for materialistic gains has made him ignore the spiritual and moral aspects of his life. It is a fact that today the educational system has failed to inculcate in young people moral values. Despite the phenomenal increase in the number of educational institutions, there has been a deterioration of human values in our society. Charity, sympathy, selfless service, helping others and such other qualities are found only in a few people nodes. This is matter of great concern of reductionists, not only in India but all over the world. According to the parliamentary standing committee on human resources Development the concerted efforts made during the last six decades have failed to achieve the desired results. Well chalked out plans and strategies for making our education value oriented still remain on paper.
