Importance of punctuation marks with examples

You tell me, which sounds better:

she told me go get the eggs

OR

She told me, "Go get the eggs."

The second one sounds better (and is actually correct) because it has been properly punctuated.

Why do I say that punctuation is important? Well, it's because of the following reasons:-
1. Punctuation gives a better understanding of what you are trying to convey. The first sentence makes no sense, and at first sight, nobody's going to be able to make any sense out of it.
2. Using punctuation wrongly (or not at all) causes the tone of the sentence/phrase to change. Try reading a story aloud without punctuation, and see the difference.
3. When you use correct punctuation while texting/speaking/reading, it shows how much you know about the English language/ how proficient you are in it.

Hope this helps!
