The 24-days march began from 12March 1930 and continued until 6 April 1930 as a direct action campaign of tax resistance and nonviolent protest against the British salt monopoly, and it gained worldwide attention which gave impetus to the Indian independence movement and started the nationwide Civil Disobedience .

salt March start in 19 century by mahatma gandhi. he have to stop the tax on salt bcz salt r that food item that used by rich as well as poor so mahatma gandhi wan to stop that tax. so they start salt on 11 March and they have to cover from 240 miles from gandhi ji ashram in sabarmati to the gujarat coast town dandhi. they cover 240 miles in 24 day about 10 miles every day and where they stop they tell the idea and means of swaraj and urged them to pearfully deft the British. on 6 th April the reached the dandhi.
