Transparency- It is one of the major principle of Governance. It means sharing information and to take the decisions and follow them by rules and regulations.
Accountability- It means being answerable for doing a task.
Transparency and Accountability go hand in hand. These reduces favouritism and corruption.

- The Information about who the designated Public Information Officers (PIOs) are in the district will be available.
- PIOs should provide information to the public when asked.
- Self-disclosure is mandated under section 4 of the RTI Act.
Importance of Accountability:
- The operations are clearly specified.
- The Time taken and budget required for completion of the task are laid down.
- Government officials are responsible for the task performance.
- Existence of a mechanism for course-correction.
