- The blue rebellion took place after the revolt of 1857. There were two systems practised at the time of Indigo Cultivation which were nij and ryoti.
- The ryots armed with spears, bows and arrows to attacked the indigo factories and planters.
- Under the nij system, the indigo is grown under the control of Planters . The blue rebellion was held at march 1859 where thousands of ryots were initated this rebellion against of indigo cultivation.
- In the Ryoti cultivators were forced to sign an agreement and were given loans at low interest to grow Indigo.
- But soon farmer realise the bad impact of the Loan and hence there were rebellion against it.
