the incidents in Ch 12 described as

ANSWER.
The three friends, after leaving Datchet, lunched at a litile below Monkey island, They felt rather gloomy as they had to eat their meal without mustard. At
this point George drew out a tin of pineapple from the hamper, the friends felt
better. They all loved pineapple. But they could not find a tin-opener in their
hamper, they had forgotten to bring it too.
Harris broke his pocket knife in his attempt to open the tin. George tried with
a pair of scissors, the scissors flew up and nearly put his eye out. The writer tried
to make a hole in it with the spiky end of hitcher and in the process fell between
the boat and the bank into two feet of muddy water. The tin rolled over,
uninjured, and broke a tea cup.
Then Harris brought a sharp stone, George held the tin and the writer
bought a high, mast from the boat and hit it with all his might. The writer's aim
was so bad that Harris got a mere flesh wound and George's head was saved by
his straw hat!
The three friends went mad after that and all of them beat the tin into every
form known to geometry- but they could not make a hole in it. George got so
its hideousness, that he flung away the mast and Harris threw the
tin into the river. They hurled curses at the tin and rowed away from the spot
immediately
George has kept the straw hat till this day, he displays it to people and tells
the story of how it saved his life, with new exaggerations every time!
