➡ India is located in the western part of the northern hemisphere. It is an occidental nation. It is a sub-continent belonging to Asia.
➡ India lies between the latitudes 8°4'N and 37°6'N and longitudes 68°7'E and 97°25'E with the Tropic of cancer (23° 30'N) dividing the nation into nearly two equal halves.
➡ The Indian union consists not only of the mainland but also of the islands of Andaman and Nicobar islands and Lakshadweep islands.
➡ The Andaman and Nicobar islands lie on the south-eastern part of the subcontinent while the Lakshadweep islands on the south-western part.
