Dear Sam:
Today was a red letter day in my life. I was called to the principal's office and told that I have been awarded on national sports scholarship by the government of India worth ₹ 10,000/- for improving my performance in long distance running events.
A cherished dream of mine has come true! It was all due to the minister of youth affairs and sports, Government of India, attending our school's annual sports day last month as the Chief Guest. I had won both the 5000 and 10000 metres races for seniors that day. The honorable minister distributed the prizes and complimented me on breaking the school records in both events. Then my school principal suggested to the honorable minister that I should be awarded a scholarship so that I can hone my long distance running skills. When I came home and told Mamma and Papa about the scholarship, they were overjoyed. I am really feeling on top of the world.
