In 1-Bromo-3- chlorocyclohexane, why we can't omit the 1 before bromo...if we write Bromo-3-chlorocyclohexane, only 1 position will be possible for bromine??​

Answer:

substituents always write in place of prefix

( like -NO2 , -Cl, Br, I , alkyl group and alkoxy group )

numbering of substituents start alphabetically and write in place of prefix alphabetically

1-Bromo-3-chloro cyclohexane
