Explanation:

CaO possesses an ionic bond.

Why? Because the compound is made up of a metal ( calcium) and a non-metal (oxygen).

It is also ionic since there is a complete transfer of electrons from the metal to the non - metal. In this case Ca looses two electrons and become Ca 2+ and oxygen gains the two electrons and becomes negative O 2-.

ANY COMPOUND WHICH IS MADE FROM A METAL AND A NON-METAL POSSESSES IONIC BOND!
