↪ The Waves Bringing Jostling Tremble - By AnviGottlieb
---------------------------------------------------------

(▫Read till end , maybe your mind shakes with the intensity of this )

◻There was a trembling earthquake , and the Indian ocean lost its control on the majestic waves that once were the deligh of visitors.
it was the night of 26th if December , a day just after the jingling bells if Christmas has gone away with their shine. who knew that the waves which brought the living to the coastal areas , will take away its life ? well , none.

◻still , let's have a skim through the waves , to remind us of the disaster. It all started from the beautiful island of Sumatra , serving as the epicenter for this below the Indian ocean earthquake. The maximum magnitude was 9.1-9.3 , horrifying indeed and destructive nevertheless. This magnitude was only for a moment , receeding back it's magnitude.. dividing into smaller magnitudes.. but , the waves which were Arisen , is indeed unimaginable .

◻The total loss incurred due to this was approximately around 18.3 billion , destroying the Indian western coasts , stretching till Banda Aceh in Indonesia. The estimated death toll was nearly 280 , 000 . A really big number for this small miniature world.

◻This tsunami can be estimated as the sixth deadliest one ever occurred in history primarily because of the destruction. and secondly because of the death numbers.

◻ Millions of farmers lost their living, lives , family , cattle , homes , houses , cities - in vain and above all .. we have had a calamity to remember. The rescue operations ranged till 6+ months. and the effects are still seen.

hope so this is 200+ words^^"

Case study: Indian ocean tsunami, 2004

On 26 December 2004 a tsunami occurred in the Indian Ocean. It was the result of the Indio-Australian Plate subducting below the Eurasian Plate. It was caused by an earthquake measuring more than magnitude 9. The earthquake caused the seafloor to uplift, displacing the seawater above.

In open ocean the tsunami measured less than 1 metre high.

The tsunami travelled at speeds up to 800km per hour.

When the Tsunami reached the shores, the height of the wave increased to 15 metres in some areas.

Main impacts

A quarter of a million people died.

Two million people were made homeless.

People were swept away in the waters, which arrived rapidly and with little warning.

Thirteen countries were affected, the worst being Indonesia.

Indonesia was hit by the tsunami first. Fourty-five minutes later the tsunami reached Thailand.

Mangrove swamps helped to act as a barrier to reduce the energy of the water in some areas.

Short-term aid, such as water purification tablets, temporary housing and medical supplies were given from international countries.

Islands reliant on tourism and fishing, such as the Maldives, had to rebuild their industries.

An early warning system between countries surrounding the Indian Ocean has been set up.
