In 1615, Lahore's Subedar Murtaza Khan did not even get success. After this, in 1618, the responsibility was entrusted to Prince Khurram. After the 14-month siege, the Mughals got the right on 16th November 1620 in the fort.

In 1620, it was Prince Khurram who headed an expedition to capture Kangra and did it successfully.

He was given this duty by Jahangir as many other expeditions by other commanders failed due to the stiff resistance of the Rajputs of the Kangra state.

The military exercises lasted for fourteen months after which the Rajput king surrendered and came under the Mughal rule.
