The answer is Nepal.

In 1768, Nepal emerged as a powerful Gurkha state. When the British gained control over the Basti and Gorakhpur districts from the Nawab of Oudh, Nepal had to share a boundary with the British frontier.  This unfortunately did not go well with the Gurkhas and resulted in a war. Following a series of battles between the British and the Gurkhas in 1814, Nepal’s army general had no option but to surrender. But, during one such war, the Gurkhas managed to kill 18 British policemen along with their officer.
