In the year 1857, both the Hindu and Muslim soldiers felt their religious faith was being violated.
* This is because there were new Rifles introduced by British government which were coated with fat of pig and cow.
* As cow is felt a holy being on earth by Hindus and Muslims hate pigs both the religious soldiers were not ready to use Rifles coated with fat of these animals.
* Hence a Revolt started among soldiers stating that their religious beliefs were violated.
