A regiment of soldiers in Kharagpur, India felt that their religious faith was being violated because they were forced by the British to use the bite the tip of the cartilages using their teeth which were greased with the fat of the pig. The pig was considered sacred to the Hindus and hence they rebelled. Mangal Pandey is the man who first rebelled and he was a Sikh who was also against using the guns. This is also known as the great uprising in the history of India.
