The Kaiser-i-Hind was a medal conferred by the Empress of India within 1900 and 1947, to "the individuals without discrimination of nationality, profession, status, or sex who shall have characterized himself by valuable and beneficial assistance in the promotion of the common interest in India. Gandhi returned the Kaiser-i-Hind Gold medal awarded to him for his remarkable efforts during the Boer War.
