In 1996, the total number of cars serviced at a particular garage was 882. This total was a 5% increase on the total for 1995. Calculate the number of cars serviced in 1995.

Step I: First find the increase in value

Step II: Divide it by the original quantity

Step III: Multiply the fraction by 100 and put percent sign (%)

Formula for finding the increase % is Increase in value/Original value × 100 %.

Note: Increase percent is calculated on the original value.
