AbstractThis research paper examines the effect of rapid population growth when it is left unchecked in Nigeria. By looking at the history of population growth over the years, this was done by reviewing literatures as well as data. This paper also examines the unemployment rate and previous efforts by Nigerian government toreduce its population and why it didn’t yield and result, and some adverse effect on the country if it should remain unchecked. It also shows some recommendations to help pave the way for increase socioeconomic as well total well-being of the nation.
