Solution:
Mean is 5
Mode is 4
Samples are 3,7,x,9,4,2,y
Since our mode is 4 there has a value of 4 in any of the unknown number,
so we assign it to x,
Then we have now 3,7,4,9,4,2,y to get the mean where the value is 5
we find the unknown number y.
If we assign the value 6 to y, we have 3,7,4,9,4,2, and 6.
We add it all,
3+7+4+9+4+2+6=35
35/7=5
Therefore, the value of x is 4 and y is 6.
