The amount of water in the mixture is :

30 × 20/100 = 6 litres

Let the amount of water to be added to make it 60% = x.

The total amount of water in the new mixture is 6 + x

The total mixture becomes 30 + x

(6 + x) / (30 + x) × 100 = 60

600 + 100x = 1800 + 60x

40x = 1200

x = 1200/40

x = 30 litres

The amount of water to be added is thus 30 litres.
