The scene of the trail symbolizes the separation of good from bad. This shows how credulous and spiteful Shylock has been, and how no amount of reason  can satisfy his greed for the blood of a human. The court stage is performed before the Duke and the Venice aristocrats. Therefore, the series series reveals a strong excitement. This is very common for the shows of Shakespeare, where there are many spectators of front of it.

Explanation:

  • In this scene, Antonio is put to court before the Duke and the others in Venice for not paying off Shylock's debt. In the contract of Shylock the Duke sees no legitimate fault and so he is angry at the punishment levied on Antonio. While six thousand ducats are given as a ransom to Shylock, he declines to give up  his pound of flesh.
  • While Portia gives a speech regarding compassion to the Jew and begs him to demonstrate kindness, Shylock refuses her appeals and declines Bassanio's compensation. The trial scene exposes Shylock’s motive of revenge. He's ready to carve his pound of flesh off from the body of Antonio. Crude actions of Shylock expose his despicable behavior and at once shift our sympathies with Antonio.
  • Throughout a lengthy and inspiring speech, Portia asks Shylock for mercy. But Shylock does not think he is incorrect to say his flesh pound as the pledge. Portia understands that there is nothing wrong with the bond and agrees that Shylock should have his pound of flesh. She informs, though, that there has to be just one pound to be sliced, no drop of Christian blood must spill from Antonio. Portia states that Shylock is an offender of the Republic of Venice if anything else occurs and his property will be confiscated
