In 3x +2y =12 express y in terms of x . find three solution for this equation. Also find the point where it cut the x - axis.

3x + 2y = 12

let x =0 then y = 6

x = 1 then y = 9/2

x = 2 then y = 3

so, three solution of 3x +2y = 12 are

( 0 , 6) , (1 , 9/2 ) and (2, 3)

now,
3x + 2y = 12 cut x-axis hence, y= 0 at x -axis
put y =0 in equation ,

then x =4
so , (4, 0) is point on x-axis where 3x + 2y = 12 cut

y= 12-3x/2
1. when x=2
y= 3
2. when x= 0
y= 6
3. when x= 1
y= 4.5

It will cut the x axis when y=0 i.e. at point (4,0).
