Given:

No of moles of a, n(a) = 7

No of moles of b, n(b) = 9

No of moles of c, n(c) = 8

To Find:

Mole Fraction of the components.

Calculation:

- Mole fraction of a:

Xa = n(a)/{n(a)+n(b)+n(c)}

⇒ Xa = 7/{7+9+8} = 7/24

Xa = 0.292

- Mole fraction of b:

Xb = n(b)/{n(a)+n(b)+n(c)}

⇒ Xb = 9/{7+9+8} = 9/24

Xb = 0.375

- Mole fraction of c:

Xc = n(c)/{n(a)+n(b)+n(c)}

⇒ Xc = 8/{7+9+8} = 8/24

Xc = 0.333

- Hence, the mole fractions of a, b, and c are 0.292, 0.375 and 0.333 respectively.
