When you read a speech, it seems like you miss out on some of the feeling or emotion a speaker adds. Churchill’s delivery adds a level of intensity to the words, which helps convey meaning. When I read a speech, I can easily go back and reread the lines. When listening to a live speech, I might miss a point that that the speaker makes, and I can’t immediately go back and hear that point again.
