Now, 6:4 = 100

Let the milk amount be 6x and water amount be 4x

∴ 6x + 4x = 100

∴ 10x = 100

∴  x = 100/10

∴  x = 10

    ∴ Milk = 60% and water = 40%

Now, to make it 3:1 = 100

∴ x = 25

∴ Milk = 75% and Water = 25%

So, to make ratio 3:1, we should add 15% more milk to 15% less water

Answer:

Original Volume of mixture = 100L

Milk = 100/10 x 60 = 60L & water = 40L

If pure milk is added, water content remain same.

=> If the new ratio of milk:water is 3:1, then milk should be 40/1 x 3 = 120 L

=> 60L of milk should be added
