Answer:

We know both of them covers 100 m, but

t(B) = t(A) +2

For last 10m, B took 2 sec more to cover that distance, hence

Speed of B = 5 m/sec

B covered 100 meters in 20 sec so,

A covered 100 meters in 18 sec

Speed of A = 100/18 * 18/5 = 20 Km/h

Answer:

Your answer is 6.25 m/s

Explanation:

Let us try and solve this problem by theoretical approach so that you can solve similar other problems using this concept.

The total distance to cover for both ‘A’ and ‘B’ is 100m.

And according to question:

t(B) =t(A) + 4 - - - - - - - - - eqn(1)

A lso for last 20m B takes 4s more than A, hence speed of B can be calculated as

v(B) = 20/4 m/s =5m/s

Now at the speed of 5m/s total time taken by B to cover 100m is

t(B) = 100/5 s = 20s

Hence B will take 20s to cover 100m.

Now from eqn(1) we can find the time taken by A to cover 100m of distance. And it is

t(A) = t(B) - 4= 20 - 4= 16s

Hence A will take 16s to complete 100m and using this data we can easily find the speed of A

v(A) = 100/16 m/s= 6.25 m/s.

Hence speed of A = 6.25 m/s.
