Answer:

Speed for the first 3/4th of the journey is 75 km/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

His driving speed for last 1/4 of the journey=60km/hr

i.e the distance =1/4 ×1200=300km

Speed=60km/hr

So time = distance/speed

=300/60=5hrs

Total time taken = 17 hours

So time taken for first 3/4 of the journey =17 - 5

=12 hrs

Now for the first 3/4 of the journey,

Total distance=1200 ×3/4

=900 km

Time= 12 hrs

So speed = distance/time=900/12

=75 km/hr
