.In a 20 over cricket match, India needed 160 runs to win at the rate of 8 runs per over.
In the first 5 overs, they managed to score at the rate of x runs per over. What would be the rate at which they need to score runs (runs per over) in the remaining 15 overs to win the match?

 \Longrightarrow \text{Given :}

  • match of 20 overs = needed runs 160
  • run rate of match = 160/20 = 8

 \Longrightarrow \text{to \: find : }

  • if play x run rate for 5 over (5x)
  • what is the run rate for less 15 overs ???

 \Longrightarrow \text{answer : }

{\rightarrow}\sf{\: if \: play \: for \: 5 \: over \: at \: x \: runrate}

  • Score = 5(x) = 5x
  • less runs = 160-5x = 5(32-x)
  • less over = 15

 {\rightarrow}  \sf{runrate \: for \: remainnig \: 5 \: overs}

  • runrate = 5(32-x)/15
  • = 32-x/3

 \Longrightarrow \text{final \: answer}

  • if play first 5 over at 11 runs so remaining 15 overs runrate is (32-11)/3 = 7
