In a 50 litres mixture of milk and water volume of water is 60% total mixture. A few litres of mixture is released and an equal amount of water is added and this process is reapeted once again. If volume of water was 15% in final mixture then how many litres of mixture released​

Quantity of the original solution = x litre

Content of milk in x litre solution = 0•6x litre

Content of water in the solution = 0•4x litre

By adding 5 litre water the content = 0•4x + 5 litre

The total quantity of original solution becomes now = x + 5 litre

So 0•6x/(x + 5) = 0•5

0•6x = 0•5x + 2•5

0•1x = 2•5

x = 25/1 = 25 litre

The quantity of the original solution =25 litre
