In A ABC, DE BC, AD=(x-2) cm, BD=x, AE=(x-4) cm, EC=(x + 2) cm, them find the value of x.​

Triangle ABA, DE||BC, so by Basic Proportionality theorem, AD /DB = AE /EC

 

substituting the values, we get,

x/x-2 =x+2/x-1

 

By cross multiplying, we get,

 

x(x-1) =(x+2)(x-2)

 

x2 -x = x2 -4

x=4
