in a bag of red and blue balls, the number of Blue balls is 2 more than the red balls. how many red balls are there in the bag. if the total number of balls are 40.​

Answer:

Let blue ball be x and red ball be y

Total No. of balls = 40

x + y = 40 (i)

x = 2 + y (ii)

Substitute eqn (ii) in eqn (i)

2 + y + y = 40

2 + 2y = 40

2y = 40 - 2

y = 38/2

y = 19

Substitute value of y in eqn (ii)

x = 2 + 19

x = 21

Blue balls = 21 and Red balls = 19
