In a bag the number of 1 rupee coins is 3 times the number of 2 rupee coins. If the worth coins is ₹ 120 , find the number of coins of each type.

Let no of RS 1 coin be x and Rs 2 coin be y
It's given that
$x = 3y$
and the first statement says that
$1(x) + 2(y)= 120$
So it gives
$1(3y) + 2(y) = 120 \\ 3y + 2y = 120 \\ 5y = 120 \\ y = 24 \\ x = 3 \times 24 = 72$
So no of 1 Rupees coins is 72 and 2 Rupees coins is 24
