in a bag the number of 50 paise coins is three times the number of one rupee coins if the total worth of the coins is rupees 120 find the number of 50 paise coins

let number of 1 rupee coin be x.........value of coins will be x rupees
then no of 50 paise coin will be 3x.......value of coins will be 3x/2 rupees

(3x/2) + x = 120
x=48
therefore no of coins of 50 paise will be 3x=3×48=144 coins

so the value of 50paise coin in purse is = 1/2*x
the no. of one rupee coin is 1/3 of no. of 50 paise coin
value of 1rupee coin = x/3 *1
total value= x/2+ x /3=5x /6
5x/6=120
5x=120*6=720
x=720/5=144
so the no. of 50.paise coin is 144
