Given :  In a balloon bursting competition for couples,

a husband bursts two-thirds the number of balloons his wife bursts.

in total they burst 10 balloons.

To Find :  linear equations

Solution:

Let say wife burst  = 3B

then Husband burst  = (2/3)3B = 2B

Total Burst = 3B + 2B = 5B

Hence 5B  = 10

=>B= 2

Hence wife burst  = 3B = 3(2) = 6

Husband burst  =  2B= 2(2)  = 4

Here 2 Equation can be formed in 2 variable

Let say Husband burst = y  and wife burst = x

then  y  = (2/3)x

      x + y  = 10

Solving these we can bet x = 6 and y = 4
