Answer:

bananas+apples+mangoes+orange =1

1/3+1/4+1/5+x =1

x=13/60

To calculate the number of particular fruits ;

number of fruit=part of the fruit × 240

orange =52

Apple =80

bananas =48

mango =60

13/60 part of basket are oranges.

Apples, mangoes, bananas, and oranges are 80, 60, 48, and 52 respectively.

Given:

  • In a basket of fruits 1/3 are apples ,
  • 1/4 are mangoes,
  • 1/5 are bananas and
  • the remaining are oranges .

To find:

  • What part of the basket of fruit is oranges ? If the total number of fruits is 240, how many of each are there in the basket.

Solution:

Concept to be used:

Assume the basket as a whole.

Step 1:

As the basket is a whole.

Let the part of basket where oranges are keep are x.

So,

 \frac{1}{3}  +  \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{1}{5}  + x = 1 \\

or

x = 1 -  \frac{1}{3}  -  \frac{1}{4}  -  \frac{1}{5}  \\

or

x =  \frac{60 - 20 - 15 - 12}{60}  \\

or

\bf x =  \frac{13}{60}  \\

Step 2:

Find the number of fruits.

As total fruits are 240.

Find total number of apples.

Apples =  \frac{1}{3}  \times 240 \\

or

\bf Apples = 80 \\

Find total mangoes in the bucket.

Mangoes =  \frac{1}{4}  \times 240 \\

or

\bf Mangoes = 60 \\

Find total number of bananas.

Bananas =  \frac{1}{5}  \times 240 \\

or

\bf Bananas = 48 \\

Find total numbers of oranges.

Oranges =  \frac{13}{60}  \times 240 \\

or

\bf Oranges = 52 \\

Thus,

13/60 part of basket are oranges.

Apples, mangoes, bananas, and oranges are 80, 60, 48, and 52 respectively.
