In a bid to educate people about the harmful effects of cigarette smoking, the Govt of India has been taking serious steps to prevent it. A few years ago it ordered all cigarette manufacturing units to insert a statutory warning on cigarette packets. Now it is considering censorship of all cigarette smoking scenes in Indian cinema. Write a letter to the editor of a national daily giving your own views.

Subject: censorship of all cigarette smoking scenes in movies
Sir:
I am writing this letter to your good self to express my views on Indian Government’s decision to censor all cigarette smoking scenes in movies. It is a welcome move. These smoking scenes in movies depicting cine stars smoking had many adverse effects on the viewers, especially the youngsters. These scenes abetted them to smoking.
Smoking causes lung cancer, cancer of the larynx, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. The Government’s decision to censor smoking scenes is the right step in discouraging smoking among people. I appreciate and laud the Government for taking the wise step.
Yours truly,
Sunil Chauhan
