Answer:

this is the answer and pls mark me as brainliest

Explanation:

I think you know this but for the sake of question , mole fraction is the ratio of number of moles of a component to that of sum of total no. Of moles.

Let's assume the first component to be A and second to be B. Then the no. Of moles of A can be represented by Xa and that of B by Xb.

So mole fraction of component A{represented by Ma} of solution of A and B is : Xa/(Xa+Xb)

Also mole fraction of component B{represented by Mb} of solution of A and B isn: Xb/(Xa+Xb)

Naturally : Ma+Mb = 1

This is a important point , sum of mole fractions = 1.

So,

✓ Ma=0.4

✓ Mb=Mb

✓ Sum =1

✓ Ma+Mb=1

✓ 0.4+Mb=1

✓ Mb=0.6 Ans…

Thanks ,

Hope it helps ,

Answer:

The mole fraction of the other component in the binary mixture is 0.958

Explanation:

Mole fraction is defined as the the ratio of number of moles of a substance to the total number of moles of the solution. It is represented by x . The total mole fraction of a solution always remains 1.

We are given a binary solution in which one component has a mole fraction of 0.042. So, the mole fraction of other component will be:

xb =1 - 0.042 = 0.958

Hence, the mole fraction of the other component in the binary mixture is 0.0958.

Hope's its help you
