Step-by-step explanation:

perimeter of the rectangular blue print of the room = 26 inches

length is 1 inch more than 3 times it's width

let the width be x

length will be 3x + 1

perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + width) = 26

2(x + 3x + 1) = 26 \\ 2(4x + 1) = 26 \\ 4x + 1 =  \frac{26}{2}  \\ 4x + 1 = 13 \\ 4x = 13 - 1 \\ 4x = 12 \\ x =  \frac{12}{4}  \\ x = 3

therefore the width = 3 inches

length = 3x + 1 = 3(3) + 1 = 9 + 1 = 10 inches
