There are three types of flowers: Roses, Daises and Tulips.

There can only be three flowers in all.

Let the total number of flowers be x.

Since all but 2 are roses it means there are x - 2 roses.

Similarly there are x - 2 are daisies and there are x - 2 tulips.

So total number of flowers is (x - 2) + (x - 2) + (x - 2)

and we know total numbers of flowers is x.

So (x - 2) + (x - 2) + (x - 2) = x

or

3x - 6 = x

or x = 3!!
