In a box, there are some pens and pencils. There are 3 more pencils than the number of pens. The
cost of a pencil is 5/- and that of a pen 10/-. If the total cost of all pens and pencils is 195/-, find
the number of pens and pencils each.please solve it step by step.​

➙ The number of pens and pencils .

★Considering :

➙ Let the number of pens be 'x' so according to Question pencils will be ' x + 3 ' in number .

★Solution :

➙ Cost of one pencil = 5₹ ; cost of x + 3 Pencils will be 5 ( x + 3 )

➙ Cost of one pen = 10₹ ; cost of x pens = 10x

• According to Question :

᠉ 10x + 5(x+3) = 195

᠉ 10x + 5x + 15 = 195

᠉ 15x + 15 = 195

᠉ 15x = 195 - 15

᠉ 15x = 180

᠉ x = 180/15

᠉ x = 12

THEREFORE ,

➙ Number of pens = x = 12

➙ Number of pencils = x + 3 = 15
